Master Thesis Worker - Multi-scale Simulations of III-V Semiconductor Optoelectronic Devices
We are looking for a Master's Thesis Worker to conduct multi-scale simulations of III-V semiconductor optoelectronic devices. In this work the student will implement ab initio density functional theory (DFT) calculations with Heyd-Scuseria-Ernzerhof (HSE06) hybrid exchange-correlation functional to obtain accurate all-electron bulk III-V material structural and electronic parameters. The obtained parameters are then employed in the Multiscale/Multiphysics TCAD environment to accurately simulate optoelectronic device properties and behavior.
The position starts 1st of June and is located in our premises in Turku, Finland. The Thesis Work will be done in collaboration with Materials Research Laboratory (MRL) of University of Turku Finland (UTU).
Key tasks & responsibilities:
The selected candidate will work together with our R&D team and the researchers of MRL.
Key responsibilities include:
Conducting semiconductor material-level DFT simulations utilizing Vienna ab initio Simulation Package (VASP)
Extracting the key material parameters from the DFT simulations, such as atomic structure parameters (lattice constants) and electronic structure properties (band structure)
Implementing the extracted key parameters to TCAD simulation environment (TiberCAD) where the actual optoelectronic device simulations are then performed
Analysing and reporting the simulation results and comparing them with the simulations done utilizing semi-classical or semi-empirical material parameters
Who we are looking for:
Ideal candidate is about to graduate from Theoretical-, Materials-, or Computational Physics
Knowledge of semiconductor material- and/or device physics is considered an advantage
Strong command of Linux environment
Programming and scripting experience considered an advantage
"Get-it-done" -attitude and proactive approach to work
Location for this position is Turku, Finland.
